Installing on Windows
Windows 10/11, x64. The client installs per-user — no administrator rights required.
Before you begin
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because Speakeasy is new independent software without broad download reputation yet. This is expected; see Why Windows may warn you for what it means and how to verify your download against our published SHA-256 hashes.
Only download Speakeasy from speakeasy.im.
Steps
- Download the Windows installer from the download section.
- Optionally verify the SHA-256 hash.
- Run the installer. If SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway after confirming the file name matches the release.
- The app installs to your user profile and launches when done.
- Add a server and sign in.
Updates
The client checks for updates automatically (shortly after launch, then periodically). Updates are never installed behind your back: you are prompted to download and apply them. Applying an update installs per-user, the same way the original install did.
Uninstall
Use Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → speakeasy-im → Uninstall. Your settings and local data live under %APPDATA%\speakeasy-im if you want to remove those too.
